Product Description:

The Making Process of Cheriyal Mask:

It begins by grinding and pounding tamarind seeds. A paste made from boiled tamarind seed powder, along with sawdust, is then molded into a three-dimensional structure. The mask is subsequently covered with khadi cloth, using a mixture of white mud and rice starch. Once dried, the mask is painted with natural colors for the base and detailing. It will be left to dry for a day, then varnished and left to dry again for a week before it is ready. Natural white colors are derived from seashells, while black comes from the soot of kerosene lamps, and blue from the indigo tree. Colors like yellow, red, and bright yellow are obtained by grinding different stones.
